Red, White and the Blues

As of this writing we are still pulling together the details of the menu. It’s a very different experience than placing your food order through any number of restaurant supply companies. For us and what we’re presenting, we can’t just order up those mango’s and lemons and “free range” conventional chicken breasts to slap on the menu. That would, of course, be A LOT easier! But, if what you’re looking for is a unique food experience that showcases what’s growing now within 50 miles of where you live, gives you the opportunity to shake the hands of the farmer who grew the lettuce you’re practically inhaling, and puts a family and face to the cultured goat cheese you’ll be savoring in the main course you’ve got to work harder to put a menu together. For us that means a lot of calls and running to a few farmer’s markets to shake hands and introduce ourselves while interrogating…er, I mean, asking the producer about how they do what they do. It also means sitting down with our team to decide what we hope is available and go through all of our contact information to see who might have what we need…and then feeling like you’re starting over because the weather changed and what should have been ready now isn’t. I can say with 100% certainty, though, that it is a worthwhile effort! And even if someone can’t be a featured farm for this event maybe they’ll be ready by the next. Besides, we get to rub elbows with these courageous and creative producers and that’s exciting by itself! So what are we thinking for this month’s menu? Chef LJ’s BBQ Brisket, Mediterranean cucumbers from Elithorpe Farms right here in Deer Park, Summer kissed Raspberries, and a selection or two from Badger Mountain Wine. They mystery is ON and the food experience is afoot so see you on July 17 th at 4:30 pm.Buy A Ticket.
